Islanders Helping Islanders 2009 Food Drive On PEI
Written by Wayne Harrett

(Submitted by: Corey Tremere)

The 5th Annual Ocean 100 / K-Rock 105-5 studio lock-in food drive has been declared officially closed by the Premier of PEI.

At Ocean 100, Kirk, Scott, and Kerri Wynne....and at K-Rock - Colin and Zack.....were given permission by Premier Robert Ghiz to go home and catch some sleep and a shower after a 30-hour marathon to help restock the shelves at the food bank.

They weren't allowed to leave our studios until both of them were filled with food donations.......and once again, Islanders from every walk of life, the corporate community, and our loyal listeners didn't disappoint.......with over 12-thousand pounds of food and in excess of 8-thousand dollars in monetary donations being contributed during this year's food drive.

During the lock-in we also included stops in Summerside and Montague for Islanders who couldn’t make it to the studio, but wanted to take part!

Once again, a huge "THANK YOU" to Prince Edward Island for your overwhelming generosity and support!
