(Submitted by; Jayme Butt, Promotions Coordinator - C100 FM, Samuel and Co. and the Halifax Harbour Bridges make good on their promise!
Halifax, NS (September 21, 2009) – Live on C100 FM this morning, a cheque for $11,088 was presented to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation CIBC Run for the Cure thanks to pure determination!
Exactly a month ago today, C100 FM in partnership with Samuel and Co. and the Halifax Harbour Bridges, made a promise to the people of Halifax that for every bra they could give up, a dollar would be donated to TEAM MOYA in the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation CIBC Run for the Cure.
Then on Saturday, September 19th at 9:00 a.m., despite the cold and wind, over 40 dedicated volunteers gathered on the bridge with a common goal: To have every last bra on the bridge by lunchtime. Two and a half hours later, at 11:30 a.m., 11,088 bras (in every shape and colour) were spread over the 1.3 km radius for Halifax’s first ever ‘Bras Across the Bridge!’
The bras can be seen again on Sunday, October 4th decorating the Halifax Commons for the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation CIBC Run for the Cure. After “Run Day” the bras will be donated to various women’s shelters and homes throughout Halifax.
