 Q104 Halifax has announced that Jessica Rankin will be joining the Q Morning Crew on November 16! Jessica replaces Lisa Blackburn, who’s been a part of the Q Morning Crew for 15 years. Lisa is off to Rogers’ Lite 92.9 to join her husband, Jamie Paterson (also a former Q Morning Crew member), as hosts of Lite’s morning show.
Jessica is a seven year radio/television veteran who leaves her hometown of North Bay’s Moose-FM for Nova Scotia. Previously, she had co-hosted Breakfast at The River in Prince George, B.C.
Despite the familiar last name, Jessica has never visited Canada’s “Ocean Playground” and is very excited about the move, and excited to join the Maritimes’ most listened to radio station and most popular morning show.

Imagine this, you’re a radio student at the NSCC Waterfront Campus and for the past month you’ve been hearing nothing but strike talk. Finally, a date is set...what do you do? You quickly prep the campus station for a complete over-haul.
You’ve spent hours writing, voicing, producing, scheduling and you’re counting down the hours to your new format launch and deadline...and then...the announcement is made; A contract deal has been reached. You can’t let all of that student brilliance and genius go to waste. So what do you do? You produce a Radio special instead.
Tune into Tuesday, October 20 beginning at 8 a.m. (AST) for The Strike that Never Was. Complete with original content, ids, original music, strike songs, and commentary from the 2nd year CCKC radio students and other NSCC students. This special will repeat/air for 24 hours.

Halifax To Get Another New FM Station |

In a CRTC decision released today,(10/07/09) HFX Broadcasting Ltd has been given the green light to start a new FM station at 105.1, with a powerout of 32,000 watts.
The new station's format will that of an Adult Album Alternative, with a target audience for ages 35 to 64.
HFX Broadcasting Ltd's sister station is Z103.5 (CKHZ-FM).
All other applications for a new Halifax station heard at the May 28th, 2009 were denied.
