Port Hawkesbury, NS - March 25, 2010 - 101.5 The Hawk (CIGO-FM) is pleased to announce its new afternoon team. Cameron MacEachern joins The Hawk on a full-time basis as the station's new afternoon drive host. MacEachern has been part of the family business since he was eleven. Now in the process of obtaining his Diploma from the Radio-Television Arts Program at the Nova Scotia Community College he landed his first full-time gig at home.
Program Director Kelly Atchison says, "It was a natural to have Cameron slide into the on-air line-up. He is local, talented, understands the community, the station and loves what he does."
MacEachern says The Hawk has been a second home to him. "I basically grew up at The Hawk, so it's cool to start my career doing the afternoon gig." Cameron MacEachern can be heard 2-6 p.m., Monday-to-Friday.
Meanwhile, Kerri Penney joins The Hawk newsroom as the new afternoon news anchor and reporter. Penney is fresh out of the NSCC journalism program in Dartmouth, NS.
Greg Morrow, The Hawk's News/Sports Director, says he's impressed with Penney, "Kerri has the right combination of drive, energy and potential." "I look forward to watching her grow as a journalist" adds Morrow.
For her part, Penney says she's excited about the opportunity, "I can't believe I'm starting my first industry job, and I am pleased that it's at 101.5 The Hawk." Penney can be heard weekdays between 11a.m.-5 p.m.
